How Soon Will It Be Before The Libs Make Smoking Cigarettes Illegal?
I am a truck driver and in california,if we cross a scale smoking a cigarette,we get ticketed for smoking in the work place.Mid as well just throw us all in jail,its coming.Losing more and more freedoms and its not the republicans taking them away.I know I used to be a democrat.Taking snack machines and soda machines out of schools,wanting to go after Kraft because of the fat content in their food..,come up liberals..,dont need policing of our everyday private lives.If I want to eat 10 damn boxes of Kraft mac and cheese thats my business.You people are so high up on freedom of choice and its my choice to smoke..,its my body..,thats what the excuse for allowing abortions.Right?Smoking has been banned in public places for years so dont hand me the garbage of second hand smoke.

Yes, I got fined $400. for smoking in my truck in CA. It wasn’t at the scales, either. Everyone we talked to said this was not the intention of the California Legislature, but it must be fought in court; of course, that’s way to expensive for a truckdriver.
The left-wingers (they are hardly liberal when it comes to our rights) will ban regular cigarette smoking as soon as they can legalize marijuana and that white stuff that they all snort.

The liberal wing ot the Dem’s have a habit of championing causes that sound like they are for everyones benefit when in truth the facts either are inconclusive or pointing the other way. Second hand smoke, Global warming, the ban on the use of DDT pesticides, the list goes on. The truth of the matter is they think that they are more intelligent than the masses and therefore they must treat us like children and limit our freedoms for our own good. After all, it’s their responsiblity to insure our well being, ie: universal health care, Welfare subsidies, Housing subsidies, etc. You know, SOCIALISIM.

I see nothing wrong with people who choose to throw away their money, choosing to get premature wrinkles, stained fingers, yellow teeth, emphasyma, and cancer. You’re right, it’s your choice. Cigarette smoking will not be made illegal. The amount of money the state gets for taxes from cigarettes is enough to ensure that you can keep on smoking. As far as second hand smoke, it is banned in most restaurants and stores but not banned in public. I still get a good whiff of good old camel filters before walking into any grocery store.

Liberals, as the word Liberal implies, generally stand for Freedoms. I think its more a matter of Non-smokers out numbering smokers and pushing for ‘cleaner air laws’ I’m sure a non-smoking Rep. would just as quickly ban smoking as a non-smoking Dem. And vice versa.
I don’t expect the smoking laws to ever lighten, but stay tuned and we’ll see.

It’s interesting how the banning of cigarettes in public places is the one thing that shows no partisianship. Roughly equal percentages of Republicans and Democrats vote both ways on this issue. It’s simply that people that smoke want to smoke where they like, and people that don’t smoke don’t want to smell it or breathe it in. It’s not a partesian issue…the bill in California was introduced by a Republican.

No kidding! Have you noticed that not only can you NOT smoke in public places anymore, but there aren’t ashtrays around even outside anymore. They don’t make new cars with ashtrays or lighters anymore. In some states like freakin’ Utah, it’s illegal to smoke outdoors within (I don’t know how many feet, but it’s a lot) of any building or public area. People who think that we are free and enjoy freedom in the USA are naive and do not think for themselves. Our liberties are being eroded daily, and this country is becoming a liberal police state. Choice is going by the wayside. Once all the Mexicans are living here, I’m going to go live in Mexico and enjoy freedom down there instead.

I don’t see it as a liberal vs conservative issue but a change in the public perception.
There are fewer adult smokers in the US now & many more non-smokers. Non-smokers are finally voicing their opinions about being forced to inhale your second hand smoke & new laws & regulations have resulted.
I personally have no problem with anybody smoking in private as long as they aren’t littering their cig butts nor should the public in any way pay for any lost work or health costs that all smokers incur. My insurance rates should not be negatively affected because other smokers work at the same company & use the same insurance company.

I am with you all the way….they are cutting off their noses so to speak……the tax money generated from cigarettes is too much to fore go, someday (probably too late as usual) they will see: DO NOT BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS!
BTW, this applies more way than one when talking to liberals…..
PS….if we can ban smoking in restaurants, bars etc….why can’t we ban children being allowed in the same places?
