This is a simple answer, I have been doing snack vending machines for 8 years, this is how it is done.
The vendor will place machines in the company/business location. The vendor is responsible for filling the products, machine maintenance and repair. Only if agreed upon will the vendor pay to the company a commission based upon the gross/or net sales. This commission is usually between 5 and 15% of the gross sales. Typically if the company wants a commission, the price of the items are raised to accommodate the commission. That is why you see different pricing in vending machines.
The earnings are not split with the company, because the vendor has all the expenses except electricity.
Hope this helps

That’s an agreement with those companies. I know someone who has their own business in stocking the vending machines. He also has contracts with different stores where his employees stock the merchandise on their shelves. It’s profitable to get into both ends of the snack business to make self employment prosper.

some do some don’t just depends on how the contracts are negotiated between the business and the owner of the snack machine. They make money by overcharging on their products…lol
