I know location is a very important part of coin operated businesses, but do you really make money with snack and coke machines?

Sure you can. Though location is primary, your next concern needs to be variety of choices. Keep tabs on what’s selling and what’s not. What’s not needs replacing with things similar yet different than what is selling. The person that owns and operates the vending machines in my hotel has been driving a brand new Corvette (not leased mind you) every year for the last seven years. He quit his 9 to 5 job at 32 yo. He’s 42 now and lives very well in the”rich area” of our city.
You’ll get out of it what you put into it. You’ll need to keep a close eye on it for a while. Keep it working – not out of order – keep it filled – and with something new each time but keeping the best sellers full. If you have 10 to 15 machines strategically placed it will be a full time job keeping up with it but well worth it.

You can make money but you have to have good routes and generally someone else has these. The key though is that people who have small businesses tend to want to keep them 2 to 3 years and sell them for another small business. Find a business broker and tell him what you want he will probalby be able to get you a route and you will see the income made over the years, it’s worth the cost of using a business broker.
